Biomass supply chains

Biomass supply chains

Robert PRINZ, Blas MOLA-YUDEGO

Summary

These sessions will describe the main characteristics that define biomass feedstocks and that can determine their transportation and logistics. Several wood supply chains will be reviewed and described, linked to different alternatives and operations. The sessions will deal with the different restrictions of the operations and logistics, related to different local conditions, and it will place special emphasis on the spatial and temporal dimensions of wood supply planing, as well as basic concepts of optimization link to the management and distribution of forest biomass. Finally, the different machines associated to the operations related to supply chains that were reviewer in previous sessions will be discussed.

Objectives

The main objectives of this session are:

  • To review the most common procurement and supply chains of forest biomass.
  • To understand the limitations and main factors that define a supply chain
