{"id":718,"date":"2021-03-24T16:43:59","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T14:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cceel.uef.fi\/?page_id=718"},"modified":"2025-01-13T10:46:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-13T08:46:03","slug":"the-atmosphere-and-climate-competence-center-accc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/cceel\/the-atmosphere-and-climate-competence-center-accc\/","title":{"rendered":"The Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are working to address two of the most urgent global challenges: climate change and deteriorating air quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) is a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aka.fi\/en\/research-funding\/programmes-and-other-funding-schemes\/flagship-programme\/accc--atmosphere-and-climate-competence-center\/\">&nbsp;Finnish Flagship&nbsp;<\/a>constituted by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.helsinki.fi\/en\/inar-institute-for-atmospheric-and-earth-system-research\">University of Helsinki<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuni.fi\/en\">Tampere University<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\">University of Eastern Finland<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi\/\">Finnish Meteorological Institute<\/a>. We are working to address two of the most urgent global Grand Challenges: climate change and deteriorating air quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ACCC consortium brings together the top-level science of the ACCC research partners (UH, FMI, UEF, TAU) and the needs and expertise of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acccflagship.fi\/index.php\/accc-stakeholders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">key stakeholders<\/a>&nbsp;to co-create knowledge-based solutions. Our<strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>mission at ACCC is to contribute toward achieving carbon neutrality in Finland, EU and global societies, as well contribute to mitigate air pollution to sustain a healthy atmosphere. At ACCC we are finding ways to mitigate CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;emission sources and reliably verify them. We assess the climate neutrality of mitigation measures and air quality management actions.
