Regular <strong>DP-FOBI workshops<\/strong> and <strong>summer schools<\/strong> support networking, knowledge exchange, and research presentation skills. Candidates also participate in international scientific conferences to present their work and expand their professional networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A mandatory core training programme is complemented by optional UEF courses<\/strong> in areas such as research ethics, open science, research writing, communication, project management, leadership, career planning, and entrepreneurship. <strong>Open Science<\/strong> is a key theme, supporting transparent, accessible, and impactful research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DP-FOBI also emphasises <strong>public engagement and science communication<\/strong>. Doctoral candidates interact with citizens, media, policymakers, and other stakeholders to strengthen the societal relevance of their research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interdisciplinary and intersectoral learning is supported through collaboration with supervisors, mentors, and partners; stakeholder-driven research; secondments; joint training events; and access to national and European doctoral training networks. <\/p>\n\n\n\t<div id=\"accordion-block_df720485a14b2c22f861ee3ff082f242\" class=\"accordions\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-1573\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-1573\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDoctoral studies\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-1573\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-1573\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">DP-FOBI doctoral studies follow <strong>the structure and study modules of the UEF Doctoral Programme to which each doctoral candidate belongs<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">The doctoral degree primarily focuses on research and engagement with the academic community. In addition to the <strong>doctoral dissertation<\/strong>, the degree includes 30 ECTS of doctoral studies that support the candidate\u2019s research:<\/div>\n<ul class=\"list-disc ml-6 my-1.5\">\n<li class=\"my-1\"><strong>Transferable skills studies<\/strong> (5\u201310 ECTS), including courses in research ethics, scientific writing, and academic and other professional skills.<\/li>\n<li class=\"my-1\"><strong>Studies in the discipline and field of research<\/strong> (20\u201325 ECTS), including methodological studies, seminars, and other discipline-specific studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-5124\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-5124\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDP-FOBI training\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-5124\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-5124\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">DP-FOBI includes the following mandatory customised training activities:<\/div>\n<ul class=\"list-disc ml-6 my-1.5\">\n<li class=\"my-1\">\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">\n<p><strong>DP-FOBI workshops<\/strong> are organised biannually. They provide a dynamic platform for doctoral candidates to present their research, receive expert feedback, and engage in peer learning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"my-1\">\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">\n<p><strong>Summer School: Methods of Interdisciplinary and Intersectoral Collaboration<\/strong> (1 ECTS) establishes a strong methodological foundation for interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration among the doctoral candidates and relevant partners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"my-1\">\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">\n<p><strong>Summer School: Forest-Based Bioeconomy Hackathon<\/strong> (1 ECTS) immerses doctoral candidates in real-world problem-solving within the forest-based bioeconomy sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"my-1\">\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">\n<p><strong>Summer School: Social Lab with Stakeholders<\/strong> (1 ECTS) equips doctoral candidates with skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and translate their research into impactful, future-oriented solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"my-1\">\n<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>Workshop: Intellectual Property Rights and Commercialisation<\/strong> develops entrepreneurial competencies and a strategic understanding of intellectual property rights, commercialisation, and research valorisation.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-2123\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-2123\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tSecondments, short visits and collaborative projects\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-2123\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-2123\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"py-1 whitespace-normal break-words\">Doctoral candidates are encouraged to complete\u00a0 <strong>secondments<\/strong> (that last at least three months), <strong>short research visits<\/strong>, and <strong>collaborative projects<\/strong> with universities, research institutes, companies, and other organisations within the programme\u2019s partner network.<\/p>\n<p>These experiences support knowledge exchange, hands-on learning, and adaptation to different research and work cultures. They also strengthen teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation skills.<\/p>\n<p>By working with academic and non-academic partners across sectors and countries, doctoral candidates gain a broader perspective on research and career opportunities.
