Dr. Mikko Finnil\u00e4 is an Academy Research Fellow in biomedical engineering at the Research Unit of Health Science and Technology at the University of Oulu. His research group is developing novel imaging biomarkers for musculoskeletal tissues. One of the main focuses has been X-ray microtomography-based methods, ranging from contrast agents to computational methods. Dr. Finnil\u00e4 also serves as the leader of X-ray microtomography facilities.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bieke started as an application engineer for the Nikon 3D laser scanners for 3D dimensional inspection of parts. Current role is a Sales Manager at Nikon Metrology \u2013 Xray and CT Business Unit.\r\n\r\nNikon Metrology offers 2D and 3D optical inspection and mechanical metrology solutions i.e. X-ray and Computed Tomography, video measuring systems, microscopes and multi-sensor metrology.\r\nBieke’s role currently involves: Provide solutions to clients for dimensional control, material inspections and QC on electronic components using 2D and 3D X-ray and CT inspection systems. – We\u2019ll start from our customers\u2019 needs and requirements and find together the best system configuration for their specific application. <\/p>\n \n

Joni is on track to complete his PhD focused on fluid flow in bentonite clay and bedrock using X-ray imaging techniques. These materials are crucial components of the multi-barrier systems in spent nuclear fuel repositories. His talk will explore the digitalization of rock fracture networks and preferential fluid flow pathways in multiple scales, utilizing high-energy and dynamic X-ray tomography to support long-term safety modelling.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sol\u00e8ne Valton discovered X-ray computed tomography during her Ph.D. on cone beam tomographic reconstruction at the University of Lyon in France.\r\nShe then joined RX Solutions, a young french microCT manufacturer, as a research and software engineer, and wrote some of the earliest commercial parallel GPU based CT reconstruction software. \r\nSince almost 20 years she has devoted her career to computed tomography, covering software development, application, sales, education and research and development. The impressive rise of this wonderful imaging technique opens new horizons everyday and keeps her passion for the topic unaltered.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n
