The laboratory is equipped with various biomass combustion appliances and reactors, dynamometers for engine experiments, and nanoparticle reactors. The emissions from these systems can be injected into a transformation chamber and a flow tube reactor, in order to study the atmospheric aging of emissions. Living cells and animals can be exposed to both fresh and aged emissions in an air-liquid interface cell exposure system and an animal exposure chamber, in order to study the health-related toxicological responses of fresh and aged aerosols from different sources.
