Therefore, the applicant should carefully explore the following websites:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/edtech\/\">Technologies for Learning and Development research group at the School of Computing<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/learning-analytics\/\">Learning Analytics research group at the School of Computing<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/research-community\/learning-everyday-life-and-work-in-a-digitalized-society-digs\">Learning, everyday life and work in a digitalized society research community (DIGS) research community at UEF<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p>Finally, before proceeding with the application process it is important to study the profiles of the main <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/impdet\/supervisors\/\">supervisors<\/a> in the IMPDET studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application process<\/h3>\n\n\n\t<div id=\"accordion-block_d626d6c46677d8800d4edb49359cee63\" class=\"accordions\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-359\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-359\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPhase 1: Preparation\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-359\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-359\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In the preparation phase, the applicant\u2019s background, motivation, and eligibility to pursue doctoral studies are evaluated. The applicant should send the following documents to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/impdet\/staff-and-contact\/\">IMPDET coordinator<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a copy of the basic university degree certificate, and other documents which may affect the granting of a study right<\/li>\n<li>a transcript of earlier academic records<\/li>\n<li>a preliminary research plan, check the LUMETO <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/impdet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/295\/2022\/10\/LUMET-Instructions-for-writing-a-research-plan-2.pdf\">instructions for writing the research plan<\/a><\/li>\n<li>CV<\/li>\n<li>evidence of English language proficiency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the preparation phase, the faculty and doctoral programme (LUMETO or FILOTO) to which the student will be applying is decided. Also, during the preparation phase, tentative supervisors will be agreed upon.<\/p>\n<p>The applicants are in the preparation phase until their application has been evaluated in an admission meeting. In the admission meeting, the faculty staff working with the IMPDET studies make a decision regarding the continuation of the application process.<\/p>\n<p>There are three options for how the application process will continue after the admission meeting:<\/p>\n<p>1) Option 1: the applicant is able to apply. The next step is to proceed with the application process, see Phase 3: Final preparation and submission<\/p>\n<p>2) Option 2: the applicant needs to provide more evidence regarding the level of academic skills, eligibility, motivation, etc. to complete IMDPET studies, see Phase 2: Refinement<\/p>\n<p>3) Option 3: the applicant is not able to apply. The application process is terminated.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-618\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-618\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPhase 2: Refinement\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-618\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-618\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the refinement phase, the applicants need to provide more evidence about their eligibility to pursue IMPDET doctoral studies. Another purpose of the refinement phase is to help the applicants to focus and clarify the research plan, as well as to ensure that the research topic is relevant and suitable for IMPDET studies.<\/p>\n<p>There are two options for how the application process will continue after the refinement phase:<\/p>\n<p>1) Option 1: the applicant is able to apply. The next step is to proceed with the application process, see Phase 3: Final preparation and submission.<\/p>\n<p>2) Option 2: the applicant is not able to apply. The application process is terminated.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-1915\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-1915\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPhase 3: Final preparation and submission\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-1915\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-1915\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the final phase, the actual application is prepared and submitted. The applicant needs to follow the application procedures of the doctoral programme in which the application is submitted.<\/p>\n<p>The application periods in the LUMETO doctoral programme are <strong>2 January \u2013 31 May, 2025 <\/strong>and <strong>1 August \u2013 30 November, 2025<\/strong>. Check the specific application instructions from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uef.fi\/en\/degree-programme\/doctoral-programme-in-science-forestry-and-technology\">LUMETO website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The application deadlines in the FILOTO doctoral programme are\u00a0<strong>2 January \u2013 31 May, 2025 <\/strong>and <strong>1 August \u2013 30 November, 2025<\/strong>.
