<\/figure>\n\n\n\nJari Kaipio received his MSc degree in physics from the University of Kuopio, Finland in 1989 and a second major in mathematics in 1992. He received his PhD from University of Kuopio, Finland 1996 and the title of docent in 1997. In 1997, he was also appointed as a Professor at the University of Kuopio, where he was the head of the Department of Applied Physics in 1997-2008, during which time the department grew from a small unit of 15 people to a recognised department of over 100 researchers. He was on part-time leave from the University of Kuopio (University of Eastern Finland since 2010) while holding a position of Professor in Mathematics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand 2011-2021. Since 2022 he has been a full-time professor and the head of the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Eastern Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jari Kaipio\u2019s research interests include computational and Bayesian inverse problems. He is especially known for his work on non-stationary inverse problems and Bayesian approximation error modelling. Jari Kaipio is an author of over 250 papers, and a book \u201cStatistical and Computational Inverse Problems\u201d together with Professor Erkki Somersalo. He has supervised over 40 PhD theses and over 30 MSc theses, and he is known as an excellent and well-liked lecturer and mentor. He has secured major research funding for example from the Academy of Finland and TEKES, and he is one of the original PIs in the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems Research and founders of the Finnish Inverse Problems Society. He is also a co-founder of spin-off companies Numcore and Rocsole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference can be participated virtually on Monday and Tuesday. Virtual participation is included in the on-site registration fee. For those who wish to participate only virtually, the fee is 50 \u20ac and registration deadline is October 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
