FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get financial support to attend the Colloquium?

The University of Eastern Finland unfortunately does not provide financial support to attendees. However, for members of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law, it is possible to apply for funding directly from the Academy. Please consult their website for more information.

My abstract has been accepted for presentation. Do I now need to submit a full paper?

No, we do not require full papers to be submitted. However, if you are looking to publish your work, you submit a full paper for consideration in an edited book to be compiled after the conference. We will publish more detailed instructions for this after the Colloquium.

I need to apply for a visa to travel to Finland. Can I get a support letter to attach to my visa application?

Yes. Just contact iucn.ael.2023@uef.fi with your passport information and let us know which embassy or consulate you are applying through. We will then send a support letter as soon as possible.

Can I attend and present remotely as well?

Yes. All sessions will be held in rooms equipped for hybrid conferencing and streamed via zoom. If your abstract was accepted but you cannot travel to Joensuu, you will still be able to present it remotely. Just make sure to register in time via the right form for online participation.

How long should the presentations be?

Please limit your presentation to max. 12 minutes so as to allow enough time for discussion.

Can I use powerpoint for presentations?

Yes, we encourage the use of powerpoint for presentations. If you send us your slides in advance, we will download them for you and make sure they’re on the right computer ahead of your presentation.
