Post-Conference Excursion to Koli National Park

5 August (all day)

Spend an unforgettable day in nature and see some of Finland’s most iconic landscapes.

Pre-Conference Workshop and Sightseeing in Helsinki

28-30 July in Helsinki

Organised by the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science. Includes a seminar on ‘Sustainability Law In and Out of Environmental Law’ and guided tour of the Finnish capital. More information and registrations on the HELSUS website.

Experience Karelian Culture and Cuisine in Ilomantsi!

1 August, 9am-3pm (before the opening ceremony)

Visit to the open air museum at Ilomantsi (https://parppeinvaara.fi/en), includes bus transportations, a guided tour, traditional lunch, and Karelian music performance. Organised by the UEF Law School’s Tranaplan project (Transforming anatomies of democratic planning 2020-2024). Contact Prof. Ismo Pölönen for more information (Ismo.Polonen@uef.fi).

Registrations for this excursion are closed. The bus will leave at 9am from the parking lot of the Aurora building.

Conference Dinner at Utran Uittotupa

3 August, 7pm – 9pm

Savour modern nordic cuisine made from local ingredients in the unique setting of Utran Uittotupa – one of the most idyllic spots in Joensuu. Followed by a campfire on the adjoining Utra island, enjoying the late sunset and its reflection in the river (weather permitting).
