{"id":103,"date":"2020-11-27T09:05:33","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T07:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/?page_id=103"},"modified":"2024-04-24T14:59:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-24T11:59:35","slug":"ostpre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/ostpre\/","title":{"rendered":"OSTPRE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kuopio Osteoporosis Risk Factor and Prevention (OSTPRE) Study<\/strong> \u2013 a population-based prospective cohort study-&nbsp; started in 1989 \u2013 was originally aimed to investigate factors associated with bone mineral density, bone loss, falls and fractures in a target population of 14 220 peri- and postmenopausal women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later the scope was broadened and especially the 25-year follow-up enquiry in 2014 and 30-year follow-up enquiry in 2019 focused on physical, psychological and social factors related to healthy aging and mortality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unique long-term design of the study allows identification of risk and protective factors for several somatic and mental health outcomes (including some non-skeletal chronic health disorders, functional capacity and subjective wellbeing). Merging the OSTPRE questionnaire data with data from National health registers enables the validation of self-reports and broadens the scope for other important health disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"578\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/04\/image-18-1024x578.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2980\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/04\/image-18-1024x578.png 1024w, https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/04\/image-18-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/04\/image-18-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/kmru\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/04\/image-18.png 1363w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The OSTPRE Study Flow with additional data and major studies conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, the focus of the OSTPRE study is in Women\u00b4s Healthy Aging \u2013 project. This focuses on the identification of factors that predict healthy physical and psychosocial aging and low mortality.
