According to Scopus and Web of Science, the UEF LA unit was the most productive research group in Europe during the last five years. Given the fact that&nbsp; analytics (LA) is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of computer science, education technology, and statistics, our research group is diverse, with an extensive skill set, wide array of research interests and varying domains of expertise. In general, the research interests we work with include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Machine Learning and predictive modeling in general, topic models.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dissimilarity-based\u00a0 and Model-based Clustering .<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Temporal methods e.g., Sequence analysis, VaSSTra, Markov models, Multi-channel sequences, Process mining.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Network analysis, e.g., Community detection and Temporal Networks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Psychometrics e.g., Psychological networks, Factor analysis, Structural Equation Modeling.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regarding the topics, we work intensively on collaborative learning, engagement, game-based learning, self-regulated learning, computational thinking, problem-based learning, academic achievement, medical education and privacy and ethics.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #99ccff\">\u2192<\/span> Browse through our Publications <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/learning-analytics\/publications\">Here<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-4275\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-4275\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAwards and Funding\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-4275\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-4275\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Researchers in our group were awarded several awards for best papers, best thesis, emerging scholars as well as other prestigious peer-recognition awards (e.g., Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain). We have also received and continue to receive a considerable number of researchers and trainees from Turkey, France, Spain, USA, Belgium and Finland.
