Tea Latvala

Tea Latvala is currently conducting a comprehensive literature review examining the relationship between menopause and brain health. This work is a pivotal component of her development project within LAB University of Applied Sciences’ specialized studies in Brain Health. Through this project, she aims to identify and address the significant gaps in female-related research, particularly concerning aging, menopause, and cognitive reserve. Notably, 99% of preclinical aging studies overlook menopause, leading to substantial gaps in women’s healthcare. By highlighting these research deficiencies, Tea hopes to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of women’s brain health during the menopausal transition.

Concurrently, Tea is enrolled in the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Brain Health program at the University of Bern’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology, where she is the first ever Finnish participant, collaborating alongside neurologists and medical professionals.

Tea’s background includes a strong focus on highlighting women’s sexual health and hormonal functions, areas that are now more pertinent than ever. She believes there is a timely opportunity to discuss potential collaborations or strategies to bring the issues of menopause and brain health to the forefront. This juncture presents an excellent chance to elevate the subject to a new level—both within the academic sphere and more broadly across society.
