Ros\u00e1rio Domingues Full Professor in Biochemistry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is our pleasure to announce that Ros\u00e1rio Domingues, from the Department of Chemistry<\/a> at the University of Aveiro, has been promoted to Full Professor. This appointment is an important milestone and recognition of her scientific leadership and long-standing contributions to research and higher education. She has dedicated herself to teaching and research in the areas of biochemistry, mass spectrometry, and modern omics approaches, contributing to the training of new generations of scientists. Ros\u00e1rio Domingues is currently Director of the PhD Programme in Biochemistry <\/a>at the University of Aveiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ros\u00e1rio Domingues is internationally recognized for her expertise in lipidomics and for her pioneering work in lipidomics in health and disease and food and nutrition. Her research has been driven by the application of cutting-edge analytical methodologies based on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, enabling the identification and characterization of complex molecular signatures in biological systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the MIRACLE project, Ros\u00e1rio Domingues contributes her expertise in lipidomics and its integration with multiple omics layers to identify cardiovascular disease signatures, understand the molecular mechanisms of complex disorders, and support the discovery of new biomarkers for improving the diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johan Bj\u00f6rkegren Professor of Systems Medicine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted to share the news that Johan Bj\u00f6rkegren, a key collaborator in the MIRACLE project, has been appointed Professor of Systems Medicine at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge (MedH), Karolinska Institutet<\/a>. Following his 2013 Tenure Professorship in Genetics and Genomic Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, his Karolinska professorship is an important milestone and recognition of his work in Sweden and the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johan Bj\u00f6rkegren\u2019s work is internationally recognized for advancing systems medicine through large-scale multi\u2011omics data, with a particular focus on cardiovascular, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases. His leadership in developing the STARNET study<\/a> – an unparalleled multi\u2011omics resource spanning nearly 2,000 patients – continues to shape precision medicine and deepen our understanding of complex disease networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of MIRACLE, Johan Bj\u00f6rkegren contributes unique expertise in network-based modeling and cross\u2011tissue molecular analysis, strengthening our efforts to transform the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cardiometabolic and related diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Portfolio Cardiogenomics \u2013 Year 2 results and Year 3 outlook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
