KEYNOTE 1 – Piia Viitanen

Architect Piia Viitanen from ARCO Architects has joined to various university projects. Her expertise is in planning of large holistic systems. She has conducted various campus plans as well as projects including both new buildings and renovation. One of her prorjects is a new building, which is in shared use with Åbo Akademi, the Swedish speaking university and University of Turku, https://www.utu.fi/en/news/news/the-aurum-building-has-been-completed. In University of Eastern Finland she has been involved both in campus synergy planning and smaller refurbishment projects e.g. activity based work environment for university services.

KEYNOTE 2 – RAPHAEL GIELGEN

Raphael Gielgen is a trend scout for the future of work  at Swiss furniture company Vitra. He travels the globe and visits around 100 offices and companies each year. He reads between 600 and 700 articles, delivers 150 lectures– all this within one calendar year. These are just some parts of his jobscop as  the head of research and trend scouting. As his title suggests, the purpose behind these activities is to predict what is happening in time to come, specifically in the workplace, to guide Vitra, the design community and the end-consumer.

Linda Mattsson, White Arkitekter

Senior architect and Partner at White, Linda has provided her expertise on large, complex projects focusing on higher education, research, innovation and healthcare. Well defined processes, interesting sustainable solutions and extended cooperation between client, architect and contractor characterise her project rolls. Linda’s ability to create high quality design is well documented by her involvement in award- and prizewinning projects.

Marie Leijon, Malmö University

Dr Marie Leijon, lektor and education developer at CAKL, Malmö University. Dr Leijon’s research focuses on physical learning environments in higher education.

Richard Olsson, Umeå University

Experienced Head Of Unit with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. Special interest and long term experience in smart campus solutions with a positive environmental impact. Skilled in Facility Management (FM), Project Coordination, Contract Management, Project Management, and Construction Management. Strong business development professional with a M Sc focused in Civil Engineering from Luleå University of Technology.

Satu Hyökki, University of Tampere

Satu Hyökki is Director for Campus Development at Tampere University, where campus development is seen as a strategic measure since 2019 and the implementation of the campus development strategy 2030 is ongoing. 

She previously led the long term strategic campus development of LAB University of Applied Sciences in Lahti 2012-2018.
