{"id":150,"date":"2025-03-17T15:56:12","date_gmt":"2025-03-17T13:56:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/orthodox-churches-and-war\/?page_id=150"},"modified":"2025-06-16T19:49:26","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T17:49:26","slug":"paper-working-group-proposals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/orthodox-churches-and-war\/paper-working-group-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"Paper &amp; Working Group Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome proposals for papers and working groups on and around the questions related to the different phases of the arc of conflict addressed by the conference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What potential role can the Church play in the prevention and resolution of conflicts? <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is the role and position of the Orthodox Church in the wars and conflicts that have occurred in Europe since the end of the Cold War?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How has the Church been utilized as a tool of politics?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In what ways has the Church supported individuals in coping with the aftermath of war and in fostering spiritual resilience?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can submit a paper abstract or propose a working group of 3-5 presentations. Presentations will last 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion and questions. Working groups will be allocated 90 minutes, which they can use as they wish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deadline for abstracts is postponed to <strong>June 30, 2025<\/strong> (originally May 31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstracts of paper presentations<\/strong> should be between 1500-3000 characters, and should pose a research question, present the methodology used, main conclusions and the paper\u2019s research contribution to current academic debates in the field. Please indicate with keywords one or two conference themes that fit your paper, or explain how it relates to the overall theme of the conference. In addition to the abstract, you should provide a biography of max. 750 characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstracts for working groups<\/strong> should between 2500-5000 characters, and should pose a title for the working group, description of the themes covered in the group, research contribution of the group to the current academic debates in the field, and the list of contributors in the group. Please indicate with keywords one or two conference themes that fit your proposed working group, or explain how it relates to the overall theme of the conference.
