Most of the teaching is done by using the software, and each student gets to practice the software with classroom computers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the course we will teach how to create different light sources and how to approach illumination system design including optimization and tolerancing. We will go through how to add CAD objects into the design and do stray light analysis of an optomechanical system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Modes of study:<\/strong> Active participation in lectures and exercises on-site. Advance study exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Teaching methods:&nbsp;<\/strong>Lectures and computer exercises using the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learning material:&nbsp;<\/strong>Lecture notes and video material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Further information:&nbsp;<\/strong>This particular summer school is organized on-site at Joensuu campus. The maximum number of students is limited to 25. The course will be held in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications:&nbsp;<\/strong>This summer school is suitable for bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s, and doctoral students in physics or in technology related fields with knowledge in optics \/ photonics fundamentals. It is beneficial to understand the fundamentals of ray tracing and have experience in using ray tracing software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evaluation scale: <\/strong>Pass \/ Fail<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Person in charge:&nbsp;<\/strong>Anni Lehmuskero (UEF)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Timetable:<\/strong> Lectures and exercises daily from 09:15-16:00.
