You can launch a well-defined research project with us to utilise our research expertise and equipment stock in solving challenges and in creating and testing new ideas. We are applying for Master\u2019s thesis and internship positions for students in the Master\u2019s Degree Programme in Photonics and the Erasmus Mundus Programmes (iPSRS, IMLEX, COSI).<\/p>\n<p>The work associated with thesis writing takes place in the spring, so we are looking for topics from companies during the autumn. We will compile a list of the topics for the students in October. They can then choose a topic that suits them by December and make an agreement with their supervisor on starting their thesis. Of course, the company ultimately decides whether the student is suitable for the task. Work on the thesis research will begin at the latest in January and the completed Master\u2019s thesis will be presented in April.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please contact <a href=\"https:\/\/uefconnect.uef.fi\/en\/person\/noora.heikkila\/\">Noora Heikkil\u00e4<\/a> who will provide more detailed information about the Master\u2019s theses, and you can also inform her of your thesis topic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doctoral dissertations, doctoral student positions<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Center for Photonics Sciences conducts joint research projects with companies within the companies. The researcher can be a company employee completing their doctoral studies and research for their doctoral dissertation, or the company can hire a doctoral student who is doing research and let them grow into an expert to fulfil future needs. Companies can commission small-scale measurement, analysis, and development tasks with photonics students, and students earn academic credits as part of their degree for their work. The collaboration fosters low-threshold interaction between the business world and the university, enabling the development of broader collaboration models with technology companies of all sizes across Finland. Through collaboration, companies gain student contacts with an eye toward future employment needs, while our students accumulate practical skills and knowledge of career opportunities in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of measurement, analysis, and development assignments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality control<\/li>\n<li>Investigation of constraints or errors in optical elements or other products<\/li>\n<li>Characterization<\/li>\n<li>Product development<\/li>\n<li>Study and development of measurement arrangements<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of measurement technology<\/li>\n<li>Process optimization<\/li>\n<li>Optical and 3D design<\/li>\n<li>Design and\/or production of prototypes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A wide range of high-quality laboratory equipment is available for these assignments, detailed further on the Center for Photonics Sciences website: <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/photonics\/equipment\/\">https:\/\/sites.uef.fi\/photonics\/equipment\/<\/a>.
