Topics will cover how light-based technologies are applied in areas such as imaging, sensing, diagnostics, displays, lighting, quantum technologies, environmental monitoring, and advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organized by&nbsp;the University of Eastern Finland&nbsp;in collaboration with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/prein.fi\/\">PREIN flagship<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.photonics.fi\/\">Photonics Finland<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/businessjoensuu.fi\/en\/photonicsjoensuu\">Photonics Joensuu<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/prein.fi\/i-deep\/\">I-DEEP doctoral training pilot<\/a> and the<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/master-photonics4security.eu\/\">iPSRS Erasmus Mundus programme<\/a>, the series is hosted by&nbsp;Professor Jyrki Saarinen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sessions will be held in hybrid format at the&nbsp;<strong>UEF Joensuu campus<\/strong>&nbsp;and online via&nbsp;<strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong>. The series is free of charge and open to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Session times<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The public series starts on <strong>Wednesday, 28 October 2026<\/strong>. Tuesday, 27 October 2026, is reserved for the course introduction for registered students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weekly sessions are scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tuesdays:<\/strong> 12:15\u201314:00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wednesdays:<\/strong> 10:15\u201312:00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thursdays:<\/strong> 14:15\u201316:00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each presentation lasts <strong>45 minutes<\/strong>, consisting of a <strong>30-minute talk<\/strong> followed by <strong>15 minutes for questions and discussion<\/strong>.
