Abstract Submission
Abstract submission will be open from June 1, 2025 until September 30, 2025.
Abstracts must be submitted only through the official online abstract submission system of the conference no later than 30th September 2025 at 11.59 pm Helsinki time.
Decisions on the abstracts will be informed by mid-December at the latest.
The following guideline is provided to the 8th Sigma European Regional Conference 2026, 24.-26.6.2026, Kuopio. Please follow the guidelines while submitting your abstract.
- All abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Abstract submission will be open from June 1st 2025, until September 30th 2025.
- Maximum number of words in abstract is 300 words.
- Title and keywords are excluded from the 300-word count.
- Graphs, figures, tables, or unusual symbols cannot be included.
- Do not use abbreviations in the abstract.
- References are not included in the abstract.
Select the presentation type from the drop-down menu when submitting your abstract. There are four types of presentations available:
- Oral presentation
- Electronic poster
- Workshop: 60-minute slot in which you can provide participants an opportunity to extend their knowledge and strengthen their skill in the area addressed by the workshop. Please summarise the content of the workshop in a single abstract.
- Symposium: 60-minute slot in which you and your collaborators present a series of 3 or 4 papers around a single theme. Please summarise the content of the symposium in a single abstract.
The abstracts are assessed from the following points of view:
- Topic interest and timeliness
- Methods
- Results and their usability
- Clarity, readability, and informativeness of the abstract
When your abstract is accepted, we will send you detailed information after the acceptance no later than 15th December 2025.
If the abstract is accepted, the person listed as presenting is obliged to attend the conference and pay the conference fee in order to have the presentation included to the program.
You will receive the guidelines to oral and poster presentation after the acceptance email.
Conference Themes
There are eight themes in the conference. Choose the most suitable theme for your abstract in the submission portal. Themes are:
1. Future Nursing Leadership
Future nursing leadership focuses on visionary, adaptive, and inclusive leadership models that empower nurses to drive change in complex healthcare environments. It includes, for example, emphasizing strategic thinking, digital fluency, and interprofessional collaboration to shape resilient and responsive health systems.
2. Healthy Workforce
A healthy nursing workforce prioritizes physical, mental, and emotional well-being, ensuring sustainable careers and high-quality care. This theme explores for example strategies for workload management, supportive work environments, and professional development.
3. Safety in Nursing
Safety in nursing addresses the systems, digital solutions, practices, and cultures that prevent harm to patients and healthcare professionals. It includes for example clinical risk management, error prevention, and fostering a just culture of accountability and learning.
4. Sustainability in Nursing
Sustainability in nursing integrates environmental, economic, and social responsibility into healthcare delivery, education and health promotion. It includes, for example, promoting eco-conscious practices, resource efficiency, and long-term health equity.
5. Health Pedagogy and Technology
This theme explores innovative teaching methods and the integration of digital tools to enhance nursing education. It includes for example simulation, e-learning, AI, and immersive technologies that support lifelong learning and clinical competence.
6. Co-design with Patients
Co-design with patients emphasizes collaborative care models where patients actively participate in designing services and solutions. It includes, for example, lived experiences, shared decision-making, and person-centered innovation.
7. Advancing Future Nursing Practice
This theme focuses on evolving nursing roles, advanced practice, health promotion, and evidence-based interventions that meet emerging health needs. It includes, for example, encouraging innovation, autonomy, and integration of new competencies into clinical care.
8. Methodological Innovations in Nursing
Methodological innovations in nursing highlight novel research designs, data analytics, and interdisciplinary approaches that enhance the quality and impact of nursing science. It supports for example rigorous inquiry and the translation of findings into practice.
Top 8 Poster Competition
We will arrange a Top 8 Poster Competition! PowerPoint posters accepted for the conference will be judged by two weeks after the registration closing date. The top 8 posters’ authors will be informed by email about their selection as the Top 8 finalists before the conference. The guidance for the presentation will be given along the email.
