Elina Turjanmaa is a university lecturer in social psychology at the University of Eastern Finland. She holds a PhD in social psychology (2020) from the University of Helsinki. Her research themes relate to migration and family relationships, particularly from the perspective of intergenerational relationships. In her latest research projects, she has examined the intergenerational effects of war, persecution, and family separation, and the role of trust in the integration process of migrants and host societies. She has worked with the topics of family disclosure, both verbal and nonverbal, mental health, and intergenerational transmission of historical trauma. Her current research interests include examining the relationship between ethnic identity and mental health. After doctorate, she has worked at the Migration Institute of Finland, the University of Oulu, and visited at the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Essex as visiting scholar before joining Kuopio in Autumn 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
