Sleep apnoea is an expensive national disease that is often detected too late (link in Finnish)

People in need of sleep apnoea treatment is increasing, while the mechanisms behind the birth of it are still partly unknown, making treatment difficult. New upcoming AI methods can reduce the need for manual review of sleep registrations and allow long-term monitoring of sleep, which is not possible under laboratory conditions. This could play a significant role in the screening and diagnostics of sleep apnoea. More efforts are needed in the development of diagnostics, scientific research and treatment.
