Personal Statement
Dr. Kulkas received his M.Sc. degree in 2005 and his Ph.D. degree in biomedical technology in 2010 from the Tampere University of Technology, Finland. He was certified as a medical/hospital physicist in 2009. Dr. Kulkas has worked at Tampere University Hospital from 2005 to 2010 in the departments of Clinical Neurophysiology, Radiation therapy, Radiology, and Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine. Since 2011, he has been a chief physicist and a vice head of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology, Seinäjoki Central Hospital, Finland. Since 2021, he has acted as the head of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology, Seinäjoki Central Hospital, Finland. In 2015, Dr. Kulkas was nominated for the Adjunct Professor position in the University of Eastern Finland at the Department of Applied Physics. In 2018, Dr. Kulkas was selected as outstanding reviewer for Physiological Measurement journal. Dr. Kulkas has published 49 peer-reviewed articles, finalized supervising two Ph.D. student and is currently supervising two Ph.D. students. He has acted as an opponent in Ph.D. dissertation in Tallinn University of Technology and as an external examiner of a Ph.D. thesis in The University of Queensland, Australia and as an external examiner of a Ph.D. thesis in the University of Valladolid, Spain.
