The guide focuses above all on searching for published scientific information.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientific information is systematic, objective and reasoned in nature, and the results of scientific research are published in the form of articles and books.&nbsp;You can use search engines and databases to retrieve information from scientific publications that are stored in libraries, databases and the open network. Perhaps you also need an information retrieval plan that includes outlining search terms and phrases that match your topic?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\t<div id=\"accordion-block_8cb4a4a7952034d9cc58f30f1ee85187\" class=\"accordions\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-js\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion__button\" aria-controls=\"content-4637\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"accordion-control-4637\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion__heading\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\tHow to use Guide to Information Retrieval?\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion__content\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-control-4637\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"content-4637\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>You can think of this guide and information retrieval as the path you follow towards the goal of finding information.<\/p>\n<p>Every now and then you stop along the way to look at the different landscapes and details. You may need to modify your conversation style and interpret the AI\u2019s responses according to your own goals and needs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Remember to check the sources!<br \/>\n<\/strong>Generative AI uses language models and information it has learned from different sources. Sometimes, the process can go wrong, and the answers you receive may be incorrect. When using AI that can freely search the web, it&#8217;s important to remember that the source of its answers can be anything.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask your question or comment again and compare the responses.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Do the answers vary a lot? Is something repeated?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start fresh if necessary.<\/strong><br \/>\nOpen a new conversation whenever your topic changes. Sometimes, a conversation with AI can get stuck. Starting a new conversation with a good introduction can help move things forward.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Or make use of previous conversations.<\/strong><br \/>\nIf a previous conversation went well and you want to continue with the same topic, comment again in the old thread.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Try it!<\/h4>\n<p>If you use the cut-and-paste function with content other than the Guide to Information Retrieval, make sure you have permission to use the content in AI tools.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Try using Copilot to summarize the guide&#8217;s content.<\/strong><br \/>\nExample prompt: Make a summary of this section of the Guide to Information Retrieval: (copy a text from the guide here).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Ask Copilot to help with what to do next.<\/strong><br \/>\nExample prompt: I got too many search results in my information retrieval.
