Georgiy Kasianov
Georgiy Kasianov is a Head of the Laboratory of International Memory Studies at the Institute of International Relations, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. He was born in Czeliabinsk, Russia in 1961. He graduated from Mykhailo Drahomanov National Pedagogical University (Kyiv) and received his Candidate (1987) and Doctoral (1993) diplomas from the Institute of the History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. He specializes in the social, intellectual, and political history of Ukraine from the 19th to 21st centuries. He is an author, coauthor, and coeditor of about twenty monographs, coauthor of about thirty collective volumes, and numerous articles published in Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Belorussian, English, German, Finnish, French, Czech, Spanish, and Turkish. His current areas of interest are memory politics and security issues related to the use and misuse of history and memory in international relations. His most recent monograph is Memory Crash. Politics of History in and around Ukraine, 1980s – 2010s, CEU Press, 2022.
