Kone Foundation’s mission is to make the world a better place by creating the conditions for free and multi-voiced art and research. The Foundation awards grants for researchers and artists. The annual grant application call will be open from 1 until 15 September, 2023.

Academy Programme for Development Research (DEVELOP2) 2023

Call: Academy Programme for Development Research (DEVELOP2) 2023

When: 1 February 2023 – 5 April 2023 at 16:15 Finnish time

Funding period: 1 September 2023–31 December 2026

Funding: up to €1,000,000 for consortium covering a period of 40 months

Development research describes and interprets dimensions of development, helps understand obstacles to development and finds ways in which those obstacles can be removed. In practical terms, the aim is to produce knowledge that can help solve problems related to, for example, health, natural resources, the economy and education. Research-based knowledge is also needed about how international, national and cultural systems work and about the limitations that these systems present to and the opportunities they offer for development.

Kone Foundation Grant call info session in English

Kone Foundation’s annual grant call will be arranged 1–15 September, 2022. Would you like to learn more about our grant call criteria and practicalities? Join the info session in English hosted by Kone Foundation staff!

Time: Wednesday 17 August, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. (UTC+3)
Place: Kone Foundation’s YouTube channel and the Foundation’s premises at Lauttasaari Manor

In the grant info session, we will share information on the general grant call and the thematic grant call, both held in September.

The first hour of the event is reserved for presentations by Kone Foundation staff. The second hour is reserved for questions and answers. The participants can ask their questions via the chat feature on YouTube (using the chat requires logging in with a YouTube/Google account) and in person at Lauttasaari Manor.

Academy of Finland’s autumn call texts out now – calls open 25 August

The calls primarily open on 25 August 2022.The deadline for funding schemes targeted at individual researchers (Academy Research Fellowships, Clinical Researcher, international mobility) is 28 September.

The calls for Academy Projects and sport science research projects close one week later, on 5 October.

As in previous years, the Academy will organise Ask & Apply webinars to provide applicants with guidance. This year, the theme-specific webinars start in mid-June.

Open call: Business Finland RESEARCH TO BUSINESS (R2B) -funding, deadline 14.09.2022

Second call of year 2022 for RESEARCH TO BUSINESS funding of Business Finland is now open and will close on the 14th of September 2022.

To whom and what?

Research to Business funding is intended for public research groups and researchers in public research organizations, who want to build new business based on their research and make it real by commercializing their idea. With Research to Business funding public research organization can prepare the commercialization of research based idea and carry out applied research which support the commercialization.

NB. In this call, Business Finland has limited total costs of the funded project to 700 000 €, although the recommended level of the total costs should be max. 500 000 Business Finland can fund 70 % of the total costs of the project.

The preparation and application process:

  1. Contact UEF`s Entrepreneurships and innovation services (EIS). EIS will help you to
    evaluate if Research to Business funding is suitable for your project. EIS will also
    assist you with the applying process.

2. Submit your funding application via Business Finland’s online services. The applicant
will discuss about the application with Business Finland advisor after submitting the
application.

3. Before submitting the proposal, UEF’s own funding for the proposal should be approved
(in ProHa) by the Department implementing the project

Schedule:

1. Application pitching to Business Finland: Friday 2nd of September 2022.

2. Application deadline: 14th of September 2022 at 23.59.
