Bridging Science and Communication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SOBIO days & YHYS pre-colloquium conference on 22.11.2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Social Scientific Biosociety Research Network (SOBIO) will hold this year\u2019s SOBIO days in conjunction with YHYS as a pre-colloquium conference 2023 on the 22nd of November in Laulutalo, Joensuu. In this year\u2019s event, we will discuss effective science communication \u2013 how you should communicate about your research in different channels and for different target groups, and how to deal with negative feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the half-day conference, we also offer you the chance to present your research with 3 minutes pitch. Register for the pitching session when signing up for the event. More detailed guidelines will be sent to participants before the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOBIO Days is an annual seminar of the SOBIO research network, including activities such as keynote speakers\u2019 presentations, researchers\u2019 presentations, discussions about the topics within the focuses of the network, pitch sessions for students and researchers, and networking among participants. SOBIO network and UEF Business school invite scholars and students to this networking conference and get-together event to broaden our knowledge, meet fellow researchers and present your research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13:35-13:50 Commentary speech about science communication by Markus Melin, research manager, Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13:50-14:00 General discussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14:00-14:45 Pitching your own research<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14:45-15:00 Coffee break<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15:00-16:00 Science speed dating<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16:00-16:10 Short break<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16:10-17:15 Science communication workshop by Anna Mustonen, Versus. The participants get to practice science communication with their own research and topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18:30 Evening get-together at Laulutalo: sauna, food, drinks, karaoke, networking – Music performance by vocal group Poppis<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pre-colloquium event will take place on Wednesday 22nd of November 2023 and will be both a half-day conference and a get-together. Therefore, we encourage all the participants to join in pitching their research and participate in social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
