The Bioinformatics Center operates an infrastructure designed to meet the computational demands of bioinformatics research while ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive data. This infrastructure comprises two Linux computing environments, configured to support a wide range of bioinformatics-related computing workloads.
Among the pre-installed tools and applications, you will find e.g. R, MATLAB, Python, Nextflow, Apptainer, and CellBender. Additionally, you have the option to install your own versions of these applications if required.
Only registered UEF researchers and students are eligible to gain access to the server infrastructure. The access is admitted for 2 years at a time and the user should renew it by filling a new application.
Usage Agreement
When using infrastructure and services provided by the Bioinformatics Center, the user agrees to the following rules and regulations:
Infrastructure should be used for research and educational purposes only.
Bioinformatics Center does not guarantee that your data will be backed up or recoverable. Therefore, the user should keep external copies of their important data.
The user should acknowledge the use of Bioinformatics Center infrastructure, e.g. in their publications or course materials. See further details in Acknowledge and cite.
The access is admitted for 2 years at a time and the user should renew it by submitting a new application.
The Tuma computing server is meant for interactive computing workloads. In addition to traditional SSH terminal access, the server provides a graphical desktop environment that can be used with the Remote Desktop Connection Protocol.
Computing resources are limited to 10 CPUs and 200 GB of RAM per user.
