About Us
What is CECE
CECE is Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy based at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). The center brings together multidisciplinary research on sustainable circular economy, conducted at the University of Eastern Finland’s Kuopio and Joensuu campuses and in cooperation with Finnish and international research units. CECE is also one of the research centers of the Sustainable Resource Society research community.
Vision & Mission
Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy is a multidisciplinary academic research, education and development unit whose mission is to promote research of sustainable circular economy, train circular economy experts and accelerate the social transformation of the sustainable circular economy in Finland and internationally. The Research Center produces knowledge on the circular economy as an economic, social, and cultural transformation. Our projects explore circular economy solutions for plastics and microplastics, critical raw materials, sustainability change for businesses, cities and society, and social entrepreneurship.
Who we are
Researchers from Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy are a multidisciplinary group of UEF researchers and professors from Business School, Law School, and Geographical and Historical Studies. The Research Center produce context sensitive and actionable research in close collaboration with companies and public and third sector partners to catalyze sustainability transition through circular economy. We take into account cross-disciplinary understandings to support the societal implementation of the circular economy.
