Sustainability Leadership is a two-year Master’s degree programme that combines high-level teaching in business studies with working life-oriented educational objectives. The programme provides students with a carefully designed degree to empower individuals and organizations to take leadership in sustainability transition and meet today’s working life requirements related to sustainability leadership. Core themes emphasized in the programme relate to topics such as circular and social economy, digitalization and sustainability, future leadership, and sustainable entrepreneurship. The study modes contain individual and collaborative learning, including expert lectures, interactive workshops, flipped learning, case exercises, and industry collaboration. The programme is part of the University of Eastern Finland Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy, which combines sustainability research in business studies and environmental policy with working life-oriented educational objectives.

The program qualifies students for a variety of expert-level positions in the fields of sustainable development in business, public sector, and third-sector organizations. Students who have successfully completed the program will be awarded the degree of Master of Science (Economics and Business Administration).

Two-year programme is taught in English.

In Innovation Management, students learn how to develop work communities and business. Students will also learn how to promote and lead innovation, create and identify new business opportunities and assess sustainability impacts. This learning module is unique to UEF.

Innovation Management studies will graduate you as a broad-based business expert in leadership and management roles. Graduates have a wide range of career opportunities as experts in sustainable business and innovation, business, marketing and HR development and management, and entrepreneurship. Innovation Management graduates will start their careers as team and project leaders and multi-skilled development experts. Many quickly progress in their careers to demanding managerial and leadership positions in national and international companies.

Studies are mainly online and the language is Finnish.

Offered to all students at the UEF and targeted to students interested in social sciences and business studies on sustainability transitions. The courses can be completed online and are taught in English.​

Comprises a multidisciplinary set of courses on sustainable economy from the perspectives of business, environment, and law. The student learns about circular economy, sustainable use of resources and sustainable circular economy business models.​

After completing this minor, the student will be able to apply sustainability frameworks in the operations of public, private, and third sector organizations, identify business opportunities for responsible, and sustainable business, and analyze societal discourse on sustainability and the green economy.​

The minor builds expertise to be used in specialist, development, and leadership positions in companies, public sector organizations, third sector organizations, and as an entrepreneur.

Offered to all students at the UEF and targeted to students interested in sustainable development. The courses are mainly taught in Finnish, but some are offered in English. The English minor can be completed online.

Explore the different dimensions of sustainability and the links between them, with a focus on the environment and natural resources. The student learns about sustainable development through the perspective of different themes.

After completing this minor, the student will understand the concept of sustainable development, identify its dimensions, and the links between them. Students will also recognize the complexity of environmental problems, be able to explain how problems arise, and be equipped to build solutions to environmental problems.

The minor builds expertise to understand the importance of multi-disciplinarity and inter-disciplinarity in environmental research and the ability to examine environmental issues from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
