National Development Project for Special Education Training Programmes

Erkkaa yhdessä (Erkkaa1) is a national development project focused on advancing special education training in Finland. The project will be carried out between 2025 and 2027 and is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. It brings together all eight Finnish universities offering studies in special education: University of Lapland, University of Oulu, Åbo Akademi University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, Tampere University, University of Turku, and University of Helsinki.

The project’s main goal is to strengthen national collaboration in special education training. This includes reviewing and harmonizing curricula for basic studies, developing shared content, and piloting joint study modules. In addition, the project aims to enhance cross-institutional learning opportunities in subject-specific and advanced courses. The development work also emphasizes effective and diverse digital pedagogical practices.

On this website, you will find detailed information about the project’s objectives, implementation, and participants. We also share regular updates on the progress of the development work.
