The Humanities’ Research Seminar is a venue for talks on a wide range of topics in humanities, including the fields represented at the School of Humanities. It takes place every two weeks on Wednesdays, from 4:15–5:45 p.m, at Agora 209 or occasionally on Zoom (please see below) and is open to everyone, with time after the talks for questions and discussion. Languages of the Seminar are English and Finnish.
The seminar hosts presentations by FILOTO doctoral students, junior or senior staff at the School of Humanities and guest researchers as well as more practically oriented sessions, like hands-on training or methodological discussions.
If doctoral students plan to present (and earn ECTS as part of their doctoral studies) they should check open slots in the schedule and contact the organiser at least three weeks before the date available. Please make also sure that your supervisor(s) and peers are available.
Self nominations by researchers at the School or suggestions for potential speakers are very welcome. If a guest is coming to the university or colleagues from other schools or faculties at UEF are interested in presenting a talk, please get in touch.
Most talks will take place in AG209; but some talks may take place in hybrid mood or completely on Zoom. This information is specified for each talk individually below and the meeting link and passcode made available by the organiser/speaker.
Abstracts of upcoming presentations are available as separate posts, see the links in the schedule below. Abstracts of former presentations are archived on a separate page.
