The Humanities’ Research Seminar provides a venue for presentations on a broad range of topics in the humanities, including the fields represented at the School of Humanities. The seminar takes place every two weeks on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. in Agora 209 and on Zoom (hybrid format). It is open to everyone, and each session includes time for questions and discussion. The working languages of the seminar are English and Finnish.
The seminar features presentations by by FILOTO doctoral researchers, junior and senior staff at the School of Humanities, and guest researchers. It may also include training sessions (e.g., on digital platforms or research tools) and discussion meetings (e.g., on research ethics or methodological issues). The type of meeting is indicated in the schedule.
Doctoral researchers who wish to present (and obtain ECTS credits as part of their doctoral studies) are asked to consult the schedule for available slots and to contact one of the organisers to book a free slot. Please ensure in advance that your supervisor(s) and peers are available to attend.
Self-nominations from researchers at the School, as well as suggestions for potential speakers, are warmly welcomed. If a guest researcher will be visiting the university or if colleagues from other Schools or faculties at UEF are interested in giving a talk, please get in touch with the organisers.
The meeting link and passcode for the Zoom sessions are provided by the organisers upon request.
Abstracts of upcoming presentations are published as separate posts; links are available in the schedule below. Abstracts of past presentations are archived on a dedicated page.
