Joensuu city center offers several quality accommodation options. Most are located near the market square and within a 1-kilometer walk of the university.
Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel & Vaakuna
Sokos Hotel Vaakuna is located in the city center next to the market square, while Sokos Hotel Kimmel is situated opposite the railway station.
Transportation
- Helsinki Airport (HEL) is accessible from numerous international destinations. Finnair offers direct domestic flights from HEL to Joensuu Airport (JOE), with a flight time of approximately one hour.
- Direct Pendolino and InterCity trains operate from Helsinki Central Railway Station to Joensuu, with a travel time of approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. - Long-distance buses from Helsinki to Joensuu take approximately 6 to 7 hours. We recommend traveling by train for greater convenience.

Getting from Helsinki Airport to the train stations
Take the local train at the airport (the P-train) from the airport railway station. The P-train goes straight to Tikkurila (about 8 to 10 minutes) and to Helsinki Central (about 30 to 35 minutes). The trains are frequently scheduled.
