The 50th Anniversary Symposium of Neuroscience in Kuopio Music Centre 15–17 June 2026
We are delighted to announce the 50th anniversary celebration of neuroscience in Kuopio, taking place on 15–17 June 2026. This milestone marks half a century since the Chair of Neurology was established at Kuopio University (now the University of Eastern Finland) in 1976.
Our tradition of international collaboration began with the first symposium in 1996, commemorating 20 years of brain research. Two years later, the inaugural Kuopio Epilepsy Symposium honored a century of epilepsy treatment and research in Kuopio. Since then, we have hosted high-level symposia on Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and cerebrovascular disorders in alternating years for over 25 years. Each event has attracted more than 250 clinicians and researchers from Finland and abroad, with recent years also welcoming a strong virtual audience. The scientific quality of these meetings has consistently earned praise from both speakers and participants.
For this landmark occasion, we aim to uphold the highest standards of scientific excellence. The 50th anniversary symposium will unite all our key research areas while celebrating our history and focusing on the latest advances in neuroscience and clinical care. Our theme for 2026 is: “Pathogenesis, Early Diagnosis and Modern Care of Neurodegenerative Diseases, Epilepsy and Stroke.”
We envision a multidisciplinary program featuring leading experts who will share cutting-edge insights and foster meaningful dialogue. It would be an honor to have you join us and contribute to this exceptional event.
