Keynote speakers
Dr. Lauri Räty, our early career keynote speaker, sponsored by the FinEd, will give a talk on “Research-based pedagogical practices for teaching students with intellectual disabilities”. Dr Räty’s recently published dissertation on the topic can be found here.
Our main keynote speaker is Professor Judith Harackiewicz, whose topic will be “Student motivation: promises and challenges of intervention research”. Professor Harackiewicz will be conferred as an Honorary Doctorate at the University of Eastern Finland in June.
Lauri Räty

Dr. Räty’s research interests include themes related to intellectual disabilities, pedagogical practices, and the steering system of Finnish basic education. Before his current position, he worked as special education teacher and as in-service lecturer and in expert groups.
Judith Harackiewicz
Paul Pintrich Professor of Psychology
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Professor Harackiewicz has been studying motivation and interest for many years, conducting experimental and longitudinal studies of goals, competition, and value transmission in the laboratory and in academic contexts. Her most recent research involves testing interventions to promote motivation, and exploring the mechanisms through which they work.
