Virtual Exhibition 2: Place

The second virtual exhibitions’ theme is Place. The works were created as part of the research project’s art workshop in May 2023, during which young people worked in groups with people with similar cultural backgrounds.

The works on display are created by mixing drawing, painting, and collage techniques. Before the workshop, the young people were instructed to take photographs of places in Savo that were meaningful to them. The young people used these photos to illustrate their images and life experiences of Savo using collage techniques.

The collages identify places relevant to young people and things meaningful in their lives. The colour palette ranges from light, springy colours to darker shades, reflecting the positive and negative aspects of young people’s experiences.

As part of the research project, we will also collect research data from visitors to the exhibition. We want to find out what kind of thoughts the works in the virtual exhibitions evoke and how the visitors to the exhibitions interpret the works. We hope to gather as wide a range of experiences as possible from visitors to the virtual exhibitions, so your response would be paramount to us. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the exhibition survey, depending on the length of your answer. You can visit the exhibition without answering the questionnaire.
