Purpose of processing data 

  • Social Scientific Biosociety Research Network (SOBIO) membership register is maintained to enable communication to the networks’s members about the events and publications of the SOBIO as well as notices relating to other very similar activities. Purposes of the SOBIO are described at SOBIO webpage https://sites.uef.fi/sobio/ . 

Legal basis for data processing 

Data processing is legally based on the article 6.1(a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): “the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes”. http://www.privacy-regulation.eu/en/6.htm, [Finland’s] Data Protection Act (1050/2018). 

Personal data categories 

Data in the SOBIO membership register: first and last names, academic affiliation and its country, email address. 

Sources of personal data 

The information is collected from the person himself/herself via SOBIO event registration forms or by email. 

Retention period of personal data 

Personal data will be deleted i) if the person’s academic email address has discontinued and if consent of maintaining the information is not received from another email address; ii) if the person asks his/her data to be removed from the register.

Data receiver groups 

The SOBIO membership register data may be temporarily handed over to nominated secretaries/assistants of SOBIO events organization committees for specific tasks performed when preparing for and communicating about the events. 

Transfer of information outside the EU or EEA 

Data will not be transferred outside the EU or the European Economic Area. 

Right of access, right of correction, right to be forgotten, right of restriction, right to object 

  • You have the right to ask the data controller access to your data and to request correction or removal of information or restrict and object to the processing of your data.
