Welcome to Social Psychology Days 2025 – Kuopio
May 15–16, 2025
Views to a Changing World
Keynote Speakers: Dr. Sarah Awad (Aalborg University), Dr. Jonathan Potter (Rutgers University and Loughborough University) and Dr. Eero Suoninen (Tampere University)
As society, technology and the environment are undergoing profound changes, understanding how we are adjusting to these shifts has become increasingly important. From threats and crises posed to our democracies to new post-pandemics work dynamics, people are striving to find ways to develop a sense of stability, belonging, meaning, and safety in such a rapidly shifting world.
The theme of the 2025 Social Psychology Conference centers on societal changes, exploring questions such as:
What constitutes change?
What are the ways in which individuals and communities adjust their attitudes, behaviors, and identities in response to new realities, and what kinds of meanings are given to them?
And how can social psychology theories and methodologies shed light on how people respond to, adapt to, and sometimes resist these changes?
Join us to discuss how to address these questions and strive to generate insights into how we can create a more inclusive and sustainable society.
The event will also feature research workshops and discussion sessions, including:
Pre-conference workshop “Interpreting Visual Cultures and Using Visual Methods in Psychological Research” conducted by Sarah Awad.
Workshop “Research Topics That Get Under Your Skin – How to Cope with Distressing Topics in Your Work” by Alexa Hepburn, Elina Turjanmaa and Sisko Piippo.
We warmly welcome social psychologists, researchers, students, and professionals interested in social psychology from both Finland and abroad. The languages of the conference are Finnish and English.
We invite proposals for workshops and presentations showcasing current research in social psychology. You can propose workshops and individual presentations for the event. The submission system is open and closes on February 28, 2025.
Warm Regards and welcome!
