Sisko Piippo

Sisko Piippo, PhD (Social Sciences), is a university lecturer in social work at the University of Eastern Finland. Her research focuses on domestic violence against women and the challenges and opportunities within the service system to address violence.
During her doctoral studies, she completed a research visit to the TATA Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, where she collected interview data from social work professionals. After completing her PhD in 2022, she has contributed to research exploring the experiences of women with a criminal background, with a particular focus on institutional violence, social suffering, and the development of women-specific services. Her work has also examined technology-facilitated violence against women and the challenges faced by police, prosecutors, and support services in responding to it.
Currently, her research centers on the vulnerability caused by violence, with specific interests in how social and health care professionals address technology-facilitated violence and their experiences with customer violence.
