Political Forests 2020-2024
The project “Political Forests – the Maya Forest” started in November 2020, and it builds on the previous research results.
At the moment, the project continues to analyze and deepen on the strategy of transboundary conservation and the international relations of forests in the case of the Maya Forest.
During the forthcoming years, the project focuses on the links between Conservation Politics, Border and Borderlands, and International Relations on multiscale level.
The project will also deepen on what is happening on the local levels: What does the Maya Forest and transboundary conservation mean in the villages and communities, and in the perspective of the stakeholders?
The research is conducted in the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and it is funded by the Finnish Kone Foundation. It is in collaboration with the Responsive Natural Resources Governance Group RNRG of the UEF.
