Transforming Borders in an Insecure World

Welcome to the 2023 BOMOCULT Conference on borders, mobilities and cultural encounters!

5-6 October, 2023, University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu campus

This year’s BOMOCULT conference takes up debates regarding processes of cooperation, dialogue and inclusion as well as the challenges that confront more open understandings of borders. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary and geographically diverse perspectives on borders as spaces of opportunity – within and despite the current context of conflict and fragmentation.

The keynote speakers will be Associate Professor Dorte Jagetic Andersen, University of Southern Denmark and Doctor Sabine Lehner, Ilse Arlt Institute for Social Inclusion Research, University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, Austria

The conference will also include the final event of the LangWork project.

The programme will be an on-site event at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu campus.
