FunktioMat

Pilot environment for manufacturing and testing functional materials for industry (FunktioMat)

Duration: 01.01.2016-31.12.2017

Funding: The Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo (EAKR)

FunktioMat project is carried out by University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Savonia)

Materials industry is changing and in future new properties are needed for materials used in e.g. catalysis, water treatment and electrochemical applications. In the Eastern Finland there are a number of companies specialized in material production and utilisation, as well as in measurement technologies. At the moment, these companies do not have testing environment to develop new innovations. The aim of FunktioMat project is to develop such test environment based on the facilities existing at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and the Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

During the project test batches will be produced using various precursors and by-products from industry and industrial partners will apply the produced materials in their applications. The pilot-scale production and testing environment enables carrying out projects with the industrial partners, and offer them research and test services. The project promotes material efficiency and low carbon society in the manufactured functional materials.
