INDO-NORDEN

Holistic processes and practices for clean energy in strengthening bioeconomic strategies (INDO-NORDEN)

Duration: 2017-2019

Funding: Academy of Finland, Inno Indigo ERA-net Energy

The broad objectives of the INDO-NORDEN Project are (1) to foster new, scientific collaboration among EU and Indian partners for long-term research activities with a focus on science and technological support to regional bio-based energy issues and to (2) to investigate, evaluate and develop efficient processes and land use practices of transforming forest and agricultural biomass, agricultural residues and farm waste into clean fuels (solid, liquid or gas).

The role of FINE-laboratory in the project is to develop resource-efficient and environmentally friendly processes for direct energy utilization of forest and agricultural biomass residues. The project particularly investigates possibilities and develops processes for enhanced utilization of different ash fractions formed during biomass combustion.
