IMPDET (International Multidisciplinary PhD Studies in Educational Technology) provides online doctoral studies in educational technology and ICT for development. IMPDET programme is run by the Technologies for Learning and Development research group at the School of Computing, University of Eastern Finland (UEF). In the IMPDET programme, the doctoral degree can be studied either in computer science (Faculty of Science and Forestry) or in education (Philosophical Faculty).
The main research interests of IMPDET are:

- learning analytics, AI in education, and educational data mining
- VR/AR technologies in education
- design research in educational technology
- computing education
- computational thinking
- interactive technologies
- ICT for development
While doctoral studies in the IMPDET programme can be completed online, the IMPDET doctoral candidates are highly encouraged to study also in the Joensuu Campus of UEF in order to receive intensive supervision, complete course work, and collaborate with research communities and individuals connected to the IMPDET programme.
