About IMPDET studies
IMPDET (International Multidisciplinary PhD Studies in Educational Technology) provides a possibility to pursue doctoral studies online at the University of Eastern Finland. The main research interests of IMPDET are:
- digital learning
- learning analytics, AI in education, and educational data mining
- VR/AR technologies in education
- design research in educational technology
- computing education
- computational thinking
- interactive technologies
- ICT for development
IMPDET is run by the Technologies for Learning and Development research group at the School of Computing, University of Eastern Finland (UEF). In IMPDET, the doctoral degree can be studied either in computer science (Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology) or in education (Philosophical Faculty). Doctoral students in computer science are admitted to the Doctoral Programme in Science, Forestry and Technology (LUMETO), and doctoral students in education are admitted to the Doctoral Programme in Educational Studies (KASVA).
While doctoral studies can be completed online, IMPDET doctoral students are highly encouraged to visit the campuses of UEF in order to receive intensive supervision, complete courses, and work in collaboration with peers, senior researchers, and faculty members connected to IMPDET studies.
