Kyynelkanavat event in Ilomantsi 17–19 July 2021.

Kyynelkanavat project organises it’s first event in Ilomantsi on Jylu 2021 (from the 17th to 19th of July). The event includes a seminar, concerts, a lamenting workshop and lament path.

The seminar will be held in Finnish. The concerts are naturally open for all, no language barriers. The Lament Path can also be participated in but will be held in Finnish. The lamenting workshop can be held in English for those interested. Please contact us for more information.

KROPU performance

Kropu is a performance on mortality and hope. Mirroring Karelian death rites, the word “kropu” referances the karelian word for the deceased’s abode.
Working group: Emilia Kallonen, Leena Jääskeläinen, Katariina Vähäkallio, Leena Hirvonen.

Running time 45 min.

Tickets 15/10€, children under 15 free of charge.


LAMENT WORKSHOP

In this workshop the participants will have the opportunity to explore lamenting, guided by the artists of the Kyynelkanava-project. No previous experience, in singing or otherwise, is required. All those interested are welcome.

Artists of the project, Liisa Matveinen, Emmi Kuittinen and Emilia Kallonen will perform a concert consisting of the musical landscape of rune-songs and lamenting.
