In the previous section, you learned more about scientific publications and sources of information. Did you already enter the topic of your work on Google and try out what kind of content is available online?
Experimenting and using different search terms on Google is perfectly fine, especially in the early stages. However, comprehensive scientific information retrieval requires other, more accurate search methods and sources of information that focus on scientific publications.
The Search Terms and Index Terms section focuses on refining your search. First, you will learn how to divide the topic of your study into smaller parts with the help of the search topic, search queries and concepts describing the topic. Then, you will find out what concepts, index terms and index term lists have in common and how you can use them to find literature related to the subjects of your thesis in databases.
