The UEF Brain Research Unit offers high-level and high-quality clinical research services related to brain diseases, their risk factors and prevention, and the functioning of a healthy brain to companies, academic operators, and social and health care.

The Brain Research Unit is a service unit belonging to the neurology discipline of the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Eastern Finland, which offers high-quality clinical research services to academics, healthcare and companies.

In addition to neurological diseases, our core areas of expertise include various biomarker studies.

The Brain Research Unit is a key part of the research infrastructure of the University of Eastern Finland’s neuroscience research community (NEURO-RC) and the Kuopio Brain & Mind regional operations of the Neurocenter Finland. Close cooperation with the academic researchers of the University of Eastern Finland provides the skills to study the genetic background of diseases, risk factors, mechanisms of origin, prevention and diagnostics. We carry out outpatient drug and device tests in the Brain Research Unit. We conduct tests that require a hospital environment, such as demanding drug tests related to acute diseases, in cooperation with Kuopio University Hospital (KUH). Our cooperation network also enables the provision of related research services to companies and academic partners. Read more about us on the Who are we page.
