Brain biomarker analysis

In connection with the Brain Research Unit, there is an accredited Biomarker Laboratory, which performs Alzheimer’s disease marker analysis from plasma and cerebrospinal fluid and plasma neurofilament analytics.

The services and operations of the Biomarker Laboratory are actively being developed. We are collaborating with our international partners to develop methods for new biomarker candidates emerging from research. The first blood test for Alzheimer’s disease was introduced as a diagnostic service in the laboratory in early 2025: the measurement of phosphorylated tau protein (pTau217) using the Lumipulse G600II analyzer. The development of analytical methods is also being carried out in various development projects such as the UEF Brain Research Unit ERDF project (2023-2025).
