ICT for Development

Educational robotics workshop

The ICT for D (Information Technology for Development) research focus area is practically oriented. The research work is usually based on a concrete challenge/problem or complex issue related to learning, education, or development in a specific context. The research work focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating a concrete solution (often based on a contemporary learning technology) that will provide a solution to the identified problem or challenge. The research work can also be based on identifying a clear need for enhancement, improvement, or change, such as creating new learning opportunities via digital technology.

The applied research approaches within the research focus area are pragmatic in nature, depending on the peculiarities and requirements of an individual research study. Quite often, the research framework is built upon design thinking,  design research, action research, or other pragmatic research designs supported by mixed-method data collection approaches.
