Project Psyche

The scarce fritillary (Euphydryas maturna) is an endangered species across almost all of its range in Europe. However, it is locally relatively abundant in North Karelia. Photo by Jaakko Pohjoismäki.

Project Psyche is an ambitious initiative aimed at producing reference-quality genomes for all European butterfly and moth species. The Finnish hub of the project is led by Marko Mutanen’s research group in Oulu.

Through the links below, you can explore genome profiles of lepidopteran species to whose production our group has contributed. All individuals representing the reference genomes were collected in North Karelia, Finland. The list will be updated as the project progresses.

Brassy Long-horn moth (Nemophora metallica)

Poplar admiral (Limenitis populi)

Scarce Black arches (Nola aerugula)

Silver-barred Sable (Pyrausta cingulata)

Blackthorn Aurora Moth (Rhagades pruni)

Black hairstreak (Satyrium pruni)

White-barred clearwing (Synanthedon spheciformis)
